RDML Maria "Lore" Aguayo

RDML Aguayo was raised in Arizona, and received her commission in 1993 through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Program. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. She is also a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Executive Development Program.
 

Aguayo assumed command of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Atlantic and duties as Fleet Civil Engineer, United States Fleet Forces Command on 22 July 2021.  
 

Aguayo began her career as the Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction at Naval Station Rota, Spain. Subsequent tours included OIC, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) FIVE, Port Hueneme, CA; CEC Accessions Officer, Norfolk, VA; Director of Facilities West for Commander, Navy Surface Reserve Force, San Diego, CA and, Deputy Public Works Officer, Public Works Center, San Diego, CA.
 

In 2003, Aguayo reported to OPNAV N46 and Commander, Navy Installations Command in Washington DC as the Energy and Utility Privatization Action Officer. She was also a Legislative Fellow for Senator Jim Talent, served as Legislative Liaison for Navy Base Realignment and Closure Office, and was a Military Aide to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Installations and Environment. She served as Executive Officer for NMCB FIVE in Port Hueneme, CA, Public Works Officer at Naval Station Pearl Harbor, and Assistant Regional Engineer for Navy Region Hawaii.
 

In 2011, Aguayo served as Commanding Officer of NMCB ELEVEN, Gulfport, MS. She then became Operations Officer for Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southeast, Jacksonville, FL. Following that, she was Commander, TWENTY SECOND Naval Construction Regiment, and Deputy Commander, Naval Construction Group TWO, Gulfport, MS. Aguayo then served as Commanding Officer Naval Facilities Engineering Command Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia and Region Engineer for Navy Region EURAFSWA from August 2017 to July 2019. RDML Aguayo most recently completed a tour as the Chief of Staff for NAVFAC Headquarters.
 

Aguayo is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Arizona, a member of the Acquisition Professional Community, and qualified as Seabee Combat Warfare officer. Her decorations include the Legion of Merit (three awards), Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and other unit and service awards.
