Treatment Plant

The commodity is responsible for operating, evaluating, and treating industrial and oily wastewater streams in accordance with their current permits. The commodity currently manages two treatment plants, Craney Island Oily Waste Treatment Plant and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Industrial Waste Treatment Plant.

All treatment is conducted in compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations.

Plant Operators hold Wastewater Works Operator's licenses from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Operators perform minor maintenance of plant equipment.

The commodity can provide initial incident spill response, containment, and clean-up services for industrial wastewater for client activities in the Hampton Roads Area.

Craney Island Oily Wastewater Treatment Plant

For client services in the Mid-Atlantic Region to determine policy on what is treatable wastewater under the Craney Island Oily Waste Treatment Plant, in accordance with the VPDES discharge permit, please contact the PWC Regional Environmental Group's Water Program Manager.

For information regarding feasibility of treatment (compatibility with plant processes & effective treatment) of wastewater please contact both the Plant Chemist.

Norfolk Naval Shipyard Wastewater Treatment Plant

For NNSY clients only (commands affiliated with the NNSY) to determine policy on what types of wastewater are treatable under the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Industrial Waste Treatment Plant's permit, please contact the NNSY's Safety, Health and Environment, Code 106.
