Prior to reporting to Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southeast, Captain Anderson served as Production Officer, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Atlantic.
A native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Urban Systems (Civil) Engineering from George Mason University in 1993, and earned a Master of Engineering (Environmental) in 2003, and achieved PhD candidacy (Coastal Engineering) in 2013 from Old Dominion University.
Captain Anderson’s prior enlisted service includes: Naval Technical Training Center, Meridian, Mississippi; Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron SEVEN, embarked in the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV 67); the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations (OP-121), and the USS AMERICA (CV 66).
Upon commissioning as an Ensign, Limited Duty Officer (Administration) in 1994, Captain Anderson served as Administrative and Legal Officer at Special Boat Unit 26 in Rodman, Panama. Following lateral transfer/redesignation and his subsequent graduation as the CEC Officer Basic Class 213 Distinguished Graduate, he served various tours too include: Senior Activity Civil Engineer, Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia; Resident Officer in Charge of Construction, Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Virginia; Deputy Facility Support Contracts Manager and Resident Officer of Construction at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune North Carolina; Training Assessment Branch Lead and Current Operations Officer on the Staff of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command; Assistant Operations Officer and Hampton Roads Integrated Product Team Lead, NAVFAC MIDLANT, Norfolk, Virginia; Public Works Officer, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti; and Executive Officer, Amphibious Construction Battalion TWO.
Captain Anderson is a member of the Acquisition Professional Community, and is qualified as a Seabee Combat Warfare Officer. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (six awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (eight awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (two awards), the Volunteer Service Medal, and various campaign awards. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Virginia and is DAWIA Level III Certified.
