Master Chief Kellogg is a native of Edgemont, SD, where he graduated from Edgemont High School in 1999. He enlisted in the United States Navy and attended Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL from September to November of 1999.

After attending Basic Training, CUCM Kellogg attended Builder “A” School at Naval Construction Training Center, Gulfport, MS. Following “A” school, he reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) FOUR, Port Hueneme, CA. During his battalion tour, he earned his Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist device, he deployed to Pohang, South Korea, twice, where he was advanced to Builder Third Class. In February 2003, he was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was advanced to Builder Second Class. In August 2004, CUCM Kellogg reported to Pearl Harbor, HI, Self Help Division. While on board Pearl Harbor, he was crew leader of 5 office renovations and a harbor boom reel project. He was selected to do an Individual Augment tour in November 2005. He went to Camp Atterbury for combat training and forward deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon returning from his IA in June 2006, he was advanced to Builder First Class. In April 2008, he reported to NMCB ONE, where he deployed to Chinhae, South Korea, and was advanced to Chief Petty Officer. He also deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In April 2012, CUCM Kellogg reported to Naval Construction Training Center, Gulfport, MS serving as the Builder “A” School Course Supervisor, Company Chief, and Company Commander. In June 2013, he was advanced to Senior Chief. In July 2015, CUCM Kellogg reported to NMCB ELEVEN, Gulfport, MS where he deployed to Guam and Rota Spain while serving as the Detachment Guam Operations Chief and then the Battalion Operations Chief. CUCM Kellogg was promoted to Master Chief in 2018.

Master Chief Kellogg is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 190 Group Gold. His awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Battle “E” Ribbon (five awards), Navy Good Conduct Medal (five awards), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Award (seven awards), Expert Rifle Medal, Expert Pistol Shot Medal.
