On Sunday, November 11, Navy personnel responded to a call received at 7:10 a.m. regarding a wastewater spill near Bravo Pier 13, adjacent to Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard facilities, on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Crews were immediately dispatched and found a ruptured 4-6 inch temporary above ground bypass line. The spill was stopped by 8:30 a.m.
An estimated 2,000 gallons of wastewater spilled and entered an area storm drain which drains into the harbor.
All repairs and cleanup have been completed today.
The Navy has made all necessary notifications to the State Department of Health (DOH) as required.
This public notification is a requirement of Hawaii Administrative Rules Title 11 Chapter 62 and designed to protect human health and the environment.
