PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM – Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific kicked off its first Command Morale, Welfare and Recreation (CMWR) fundraiser with a baked goods and coffee sale April 3 at its command headquarters.
The bake sale featured homemade cupcakes, muffins, a variety of cookies and brownies, mochi, chex mix, Spam musubi, chips and hot Starbucks coffee. All items were generously donated and purchased by NAVFAC Pacific personnel.
“Our kick-off fundraiser held today was extremely successful and we couldn't have done it without your support,” said Ralph Luca, NAVFAC Pacific CMWR Committee chairperson. “So thank you to all who participated to make this kick-off fundraiser a great success and special thanks to those who donated items.”
This year's CMWR Committee is committed to providing NAVFAC Pacific with two big events this year - May Day and the Holiday Party.
“It is our goal to help boost employee morale and welfare within the command through these two events,” said Luca. “In order to meet this goal, we will be hosting various fundraisers throughout the year. We are presently coordinating with Zippy's and will begin ticket sales shortly, so please stay tuned for more information.”
Another daily fundraiser that continues to provide income for the CMWR fund is the vending machines around NAVFAC Pacific. The vending machines are located on the first floor kitchen of building 258 near Capital Improvements and on the back side of building 258. A portion of the vending machines proceeds go towards the CMWR fund.
The first CMWR event is May Day and is scheduled for May 14. More information will be sent out about this event and future fundraisers.
The CMWR Committee consists of the following members - Ralph Luca, chairperson; Catherine Cruz Norton, vice chairperson; John Chan, programs committee chairperson; Kay O'Keefe, ways and means committee chairperson; Robert Cabreros, treasurer; Matthew Kam, secretary and Dan Klingshirn, family relations committee chairperson.
