NAVFAC EXWC Receives 2019 Accolade for Aquisition Excellence

10/03/19 01:13 PM

PORT HUENEME, Calif. (Oct. 03, 2019) — Naval Facilities (NAVFAC) Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (EXWC) has been awarded the Sarkis Tatigian Award for outstanding acquisition excellence in their Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP).

EXWC OSBP promotes small business culture through a focused effort for exceeding quantitative performance objectives and exploring innovative approaches to small business contracting. Through the current program, small businesses are encouraged to compete for prime contracts and subcontracts, and work with the OSBP through the acquisition process.

The driving efforts of EXWC OSBP enable the command to exceed all their small business goals to obtain an all-time high in small business obligations, dating back 25 years. Out of the $410.2M total spend for the previous year, $150.1M was awarded to small businesses.

EXWC is a warfare center that does not focus on the traditional NAVFAC areas of construction and facility support. Instead, EXWC focuses primarily on engineering services and global contracting.

Team awardees of the 2019 Sarkis Tatigian Award include Captain Joe Greeson, Mr. Russ Dominy, Mr. William Hepler, Mr. Dan Magro, and Mr. Raymond Brothers.

The Sarkis Tatigian award recognizes a DON Echelon III or IV field contracting command which exemplifies the highest examples of small business acquisition excellence, and whose achievement brings significant credit to the DON acquisition community.
