INSPECTOR AUTHORIZATION

General Services Administration (GSA) approved security container inspectors require training and must pass a written exam. Only MBA USA or Lockmasters Security Institute (LSI) can train inspectors. Inspector authorization is valid for a period of three years after which inspectors must successfully complete an Update course. The Update course is valid for three years.

Classified national security information and arms, ammunition, and explosives MUST be stored in a GSA-approved security container, vault, or other approved secured area. GSA-approved security containers and vault doors MUST have a GSA approval label on the front of the equipment. If the approval label is missing, the equipment is not GSA-approved. An inspection by an authorized inspector can resolve any questions even with an approval label present. If a container passes inspection, the inspector can re-label the container or door.

INSPECTOR TRAINING

GSA equipment inspections may only be done by authorized inspectors who have successfully completed an inspection training course approved by GSA.  Approved training courses are offered by two training organizations.  For information on training, or to locate an authorized inspector near you, contact MBA USA or Lockmasters Security Institute (LSI) at:
