WASHINGTON (NNS) - Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Washington awarded a $25 million contract March 29 to Hensel Phelps Construction Company for the design and construction of an addition to a Defense Security Service facility at Marine Corps Base (MCB) Quantico, Va.
The secure, four-story high-rise addition will include offices, storage areas and mechanical rooms.
"This 40,000 square foot addition and parking garage is essential for the Defense Security Service to fulfill their mission," said Mike Wischnewski, NAVFAC Washington construction manager. "We look forward to working with the contractor in designing and constructing a world-class facility at MCB Quantico."
The work is scheduled for completion in July 2014. The contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website with 21 proposals received.
