NAVFAC Marianas Awards $52 Million Contract for Fuel Transfer Pipeline on Guam

SANTA RITA, Guam (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Marianas awarded a $52 million fixed-price contract Dec. 20 to Nova Group, Inc.-Underground Construction, Inc., a joint venture of Napa, Calif., for a new fuel transfer pipeline and upgrade of an existing fuel transfer pipeline on Guam.

"This important military construction project enhances existing fuel transfer capabilities and improves mission readiness for current and future operations at Andersen Air Force Base" said Capt. Glenn Shephard, commanding officer, NAVFAC Marianas.

The project includes upgrading a pump house, providing new fuel pumps, a new generator building with emergency generators, piping modifications and electrical system upgrades.

Work will be performed across multiple areas on Guam, from Sasa Valley Fuel Farm in the village of Piti to Andersen Air Force Base in the village of Yigo. Work is expected to be completed by February 2016.

This contract was procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with seven proposals received.
