SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest recognized Neil C. Robinson, Special Projects program manager, as Navy Region Southwest 2015 Civilian of the Year during a presentation March 16 in San Diego.
Navy Region Southwest Commander Rear Adm. Mark. K. Rich presented Robinson was with the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award during the ceremony.
"The Assistant Regional Engineer and staff are very proud of the recent recognition of Neil Robinson for his outstanding work contributions in support of Navy Region Southwest and its 10 installations," said Rich Johnston, Assistant Regional Engineer deputy. "Neil is passionate about the work he does and the results have yielded a large number of critically needed facility repair and modernization projects in a highly competitive environment for resources. He is a consummate professional and a great team member."
Robinson provided oversight for the execution of the fiscal year 2015 region program, which included $57 million worth of critical fleet, unaccompanied housing and energy repair projects across 10 Navy installations.
Robinson paved the way for the successful delivery of 19 major projects valued at $164 million, which include repairs to key airfield and waterfront assets across the region that will directly enhance the warfighting readiness of the Navy.
His efforts contributed to the region's ability to deliver $102 million worth of significant renovations and upgrades to 13 berthing facilities directly in support of the chief of naval operations' initiative to improve the quality of housing facilities for Sailors.
He also provided successful oversight of 37 energy repair projects valued at more than $28 million that will replace various facility components with energy efficient technology that will reduce energy consumption and utility expenses by over $4 million annually.
