NAVFAC Southwest Awards $50 Million For Marine Corps Facilities Assessment

SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest awarded Cardno – Amec Foster Wheeler Joint Venture of Charlottesville, Virginia, a firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity architect-engineering contract $50 million contract, June 10 in San Diego, for Marine Corps facilities assessments utilizing BUILDER Sustainment Management System at various Marine Corps installations worldwide.

“Conducting BUILDER assessments will allow HQMC and MC installations to better understand the condition of their facilities and flag potential issues requiring repair or replacement,” said Harold Wong, NAVFAC Southwest senior civil engineer.  “As a result, this will assist the installation in planning and prioritizing facility repair projects.”

Cardno – Amec Foster Wheeler will provide for condition assessments of approximately 20 million square feet in facilities and greater annually utilizing remote entry database and web-based BUILDER for major building component systems data input, data analysis and interpretation, and assessor and management training. 

Cardno – Amec Foster Wheeler will also complete knowledge-based sustainment management system facility assessments and training, specialized engineering assessments and studies for site facilities, conventional or deficiency-based facility assessments and training, assessments in life-cycle, space utilization and functionality, and short and long range maintenance planning.

“Awarding this $50 million IDIQ contract allows NAVFAC Southwest to continue supporting HQMC BUILDER assessment program,” said Wong.

Assessment work will be performed at various Marine Corps facilities worldwide, which includes North Carolina, Japan, California, Hawaii, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Korea. Cardno – Amec Foster Wheeler is scheduled to complete work by summer 2025. NAVFAC Southwest is the contracting activity.
