Community Survey

The U.S. Navy is offering an online survey to address and understand community interest in former Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant (NWIRP) Bedford, and to gauge local awareness of ongoing environmental restoration efforts at the site.

Take the Survey: Please complete the Navy’s 20-question Environmental Concerns Survey. The survey will be open from March 27, 2024 to May 31, 2024. The survey is anonymous and may take up to 20 minutes depending upon your level of engagement. This survey will help the Navy understand your level of awareness and concerns about the site. The results of the survey will be used to inform an update to the Navy’s Community Involvement Plan that will be made available to the public. This plan lays out information on the site and helps the community understand how they can stay informed and involved in the cleanup process. If you have questions concerning this survey email NAVFAC_ML_PAO@navy.mil or leave a message at 757-341-1410 /11.

Restoration Advisory Board

A Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) was established for NWIRP Bedford in March 1996. The RAB is composed of members of the community, local environmental group members, and state and federal officials. The RAB meets periodically, and their communications are the primary mechanism for providing information to the community. Public notices announcing RAB meetings, public meetings, public hearings, and the availability of documents are generally advertised in two local newspapers (Bedford Minuteman and Lexington Minuteman). RAB meeting minutes are available in the AR File at the link below. Use the search term “Restoration Advisory Board" to locate records relating to the RAB meetings or other public meetings.
