Planning Design and construction
The Navy has bases all over the world—and someone has to plan, build, and take care of them. That’s what we do at Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command.
Our civilian team supports 69 bases across 24 time zones, from the U.S. to Europe, Africa, Central Asia, and the Pacific. We manage more than two million acres of land and over 125,000 buildings and facilities worth hundreds of billions of dollars. These bases are where sailors train, aircraft operate, ships are maintained, and service members and their families live and work.
Within NAVFAC, our Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC) team focuses on shaping what those bases look like today and in the future. We help decide what needs to be built or improved, design those projects, and oversee construction to make sure it’s done right.
We manage everything from new construction—like piers, airfields, and training facilities—to upgrades and repairs of existing infrastructure. We also do long-range planning to make sure bases can support future missions, new technologies, and growing demands.
In simple terms: we plan it, design it, build it, and make sure it supports the Navy’s mission—now and into the future.
