Restoration Advisory Board (RAB)

NAS Jacksonville formed a Technical Review Committee (TRC) in 1989 to review recommendations for and monitor progress of the Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville investigation and cleanup effort. The TRC consisted of representatives from the Navy, United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), and the local community.

The Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) was established in 1995 as a forum for communication between the community and decision-makers, absorbing the TRC and adding more members from the community and local organizations. These partners worked together to monitor the progress of environmental investigations and review remediation activities and recommendations at NAS Jacksonville.

RAB Adjournment Notice

Due to a natural decline in public participation and a determination that there is no longer sufficient community interest to sustain a formal board, the NAS Jacksonville RAB was officially adjourned in 2024. This transition reflects the mature status of the environmental restoration program and the steady progress made on cleanup efforts. While the formal board has adjourned, the Navy remains fully committed to environmental stewardship, transparency, and maintaining open lines of communication with our neighbors and regulators.
