JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii – Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Hawaii awarded Kiewit Infrastructure West Co., of Honolulu, a $27,465,700 firm-fixed-price task order under a previously-awarded contract to repair roads and erosion control at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility, September 14.
The work to be performed provides for repairing roads along the north face of RHBFSF and installing an erosion control rock fall protection system near the entry control point along Lower Access Road.
The proposed work includes installing retaining walls, renovating deteriorated/unstable roadway surfaces, installing storm water runoff controls, removing unstable hillside features (such as dislodging loose boulders), removing erosion contributing foliage, and installing rock fall retention mesh. The project will be divided into two phases. Phase 1 work includes clearing/grubbing, demolition and removal of trees and vegetation, site demolition including pavement, fending guard rails, and miscellaneous structure removal, grading, stabilization of the site, new asphalt concrete and concrete driveways, drainage improvements, landscaping, and erosion/sediment control improvements. Phase 2 work includes clearing/grubbing, erosion/sediment control improvements, rock scaling, and rock fall protection systems.
This contract was competitively procured via Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment website with six offers received. Work will be performed at Oahu, Hawaii, and is expected to be completed by June 2025.
