HONOLULU, Hi. (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific awarded a $9 million cost-plus-award-fee task order modification under an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, multiple award contract on June 2 to AECOM Technical Services Inc. of Los Angeles, California, for the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP) Advanced Studies, part three at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY& IMF).

"Award of this task order is the next major step toward executing a strategic infrastructure plan to create the shipyard of the future," said Joanna Victorino, deputy program management officer for the Navy’s SIOP efforts at PHNSY& IMF.

SIOP is a comprehensive, 20-year, $21-billion effort to modernize infrastructure at the four naval shipyards through critical dry dock repairs, restoring and optimally placing shipyard facilities and replacing aging and deteriorating capital equipment.

As one of the Navy's four public shipyards, PHNSY& IMF performs a vital role in national defense by executing maintenance on attack submarines in order to provide combat-ready ships to the fleet.

The work to be performed provides for 17 advanced studies and project management for Site 1, PHNSY& IMF, in accordance with the scope of work as negotiated.

Work will be performed at PHNSY& IMF on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii and is expected to be completed by September 2021.
