NSA Hampton Roads – Portsmouth Annex is committed to keeping the community informed about its environmental restoration efforts. The Navy provides regular updates to the Administrative Record, which includes all site documents and can be accessed through the link on the Administrative Records tab. In accordance with guidelines of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Navy will publish public notices in the local newspaper, distribute fact sheets, and hold public meetings as needed.
Public participation is a vital part of the CERCLA process. At NSA Hampton Roads – Portsmouth Annex the Navy is committed to transparency and open communication. While a Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) specifically for NSA Hampton Roads – Portsmouth Annex has not been necessary to date due to the progress of current investigations and cleanup activities, The Navy recognizes the value of community input. As investigations and cleanups progress, the establishment of a NSA Hampton Roads – Portsmouth Annex -specific RAB will be considered if community interest is identified. RABs typically include members of the community, local environmental groups, and state and federal officials.
