Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Hawaii awarded TNT Constructors JV (large business), Bremerton, Washington, a firm-fixed-price task order for $58,566,450 under a multiple award construction contract for wharf improvements at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH).

“This much needed project will help modernize our facilities at Pearl Harbor to better service the Navy’s newest nuclear-powered fast attack submarines for deep ocean anti-submarine warfare and littoral (shallow water) operations,” said Public Works Officer JBPHH Captain Randall Harmeyer. “Our piers and fender systems must be updated and reconfigured to provide required shore support, from basic mooring to utility services.”

The work to be performed provides for a pile-supported concrete structure to fill in the outboard site of the pier “neck” and renovates and modernizes wharves to accommodate the Los Angeles (LA) and Virginia (VA) class submarines. Work includes installation of mooring hardpoint/pile clusters to support hydro pneumatic fenders, mooring cleats and bitts to support berthing, and removal of existing backing plate and chains which are no longer needed. Shore power mounds will be replaced with 400A shore power outlets and shunt trip breakers will be reconfigured in accordance to LA and VA class submarine requirements. The project will also relocate or provide mechanical, electrical and telecommunication services including but not limited to potable water, sanitary sewer, bilge and oily waste, and compressed air.

Work will be performed in Honolulu, Hawaii, and is expected to be completed by August 2023.

Five proposals were received for this task order.
