Welcome to the official U.S. Navy Website for the Medical Facilities Program Office (MFPO). The MFPO is part of Design and Construction, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, located on the Washington Navy Yard, Washington D.C.
The MFPO serves as the command advisor and coordinator, as well as the mandatory center of expertise for the design and construction of all medical treatment facilities (MTFs) world-wide, where NAVFAC is the execution agent. MTFs are defined as hospitals, medical clinics, dental clinics, fleet hospitals, & laboratories, along with related facilities, such as medical logistics warehouses, aviation water treatment facilities, bioenvironmental engineering buildings, etc.
Mission:
To provide specialized consultation in the areas of MTF acquisition, planning, design, construction, and operation and maintenance. Our responsibilities include planning and programming, coordination of technical review, mandatory certifications of designs, and adherence to medical specific criteria. The MFPO provides support during construction and beyond to ensure facilities are constructed, maintained, and operated as needed to support the needs of the Warfighter. As the Center of Expertise for MTFs, the MFPO monitors existing MTFs as well as industry and regulatory trends and implement lessons-learned, best practices, Evidence-Based Design, and life-cycle management into MTF designs. We provide mandatory 10 USC Section 2851 (c) monthly reports to OSD (HA) and ensure all public laws effecting Medical Treatment Facilities are implemented into the design and construction of all our projects.
