SARPY COUNTY, Neb. (NNS) -- Three Navy Seabees deployed from Naval Facilities (NAVFAC) Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (EXWC) Mobile Utilities Support Equipment (MUSE) Division in Port Hueneme, California, terminated four power plants and one substation used for contingency support of the U.S. Air Force 55th Civil Engineering Squadron (55th CES) Facility.

Three MUSE First Class Petty Officer technicians Luke Clemens, Dwayne Smith, and Matthew Tatro arrived on July 8, 2019 to power down the equipment. The initial install of these power plants provided electrical power following the flooding of the Missouri river in April 2019.

EXWC MUSE installed the power plant within days of receiving the request for help due to flooding and utility power concerns. The equipment provided the base power and while floodwaters encroached the base power plant, causing devastating damage to the power grid.

EXWC MUSE provides DOD agencies a low-cost alternative to renting commercial generators saving taxpayers a potential $70,000 per month in rental fees, and approximately $4,000 per day fuel expenses.

This support mission is the third such mission for EXWC MUSE. The team of technicians ensure that all the equipment is properly tested, secured, and sealed for transporting back to EXWC MUSE headquarters.
