SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest personnel held a Procurement Forum in coordination with members from the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Oct. 9 in San Diego.
“With this type of open industry engagement I think both the contractors and the government are getting out of our shells more and more and being able to share more meaningful information back and forth with each other,” said Ed Chevalier, NAVFAC Southwest Environmental Contracts Core director. “I believe there’s more value than meets the eye to these events and we should take advantage of every opportunity we get.”
The event provided contractors with insight into the government procurement process as well as recommendations for developing strong proposals. Reaching out to the industry creates a partnership that improves the communication process, used to optimize acquisition schedules, documents, and missions.
The forum included presentations from NAVFAC Southwest acquisition and technical personnel and a panel of selection board experts for a question and answer session. NAVFAC Southwest’s Chevalier, Kathy Stewart, Allison Cantu, Melanie Kito, Chad Slade, John Coon, Jennifer Reece, Antonio Lopez, Jennifer McGuire, and Robert Zaccaria represented NAVFAC Southwest as members of the panel selection board experts who shared NAVFAC Southwest’s procurement goals, process and provided helpful insight on common key factors for successful proposals.
The event garnered approximately 120 attendees and furthered efforts to strengthen industry government engagement.
